Burt Lancaster played the part of Maxwell Danforth, in the Osterman Weekend in 1983

Birth Name Burton Stephen Lancaster

Height 6' 2" (1.88 m)

Born New York

Burt Lancaster grew up as a tough 'street kid' who was interested at a very age in gymnastics.  He joined the circus as an acrobat and worked there until he was injured.  He served in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy. He didn't get into the movie business until he was 32.  He taught himself his acting skills as he went along and in 1948 set up his own production company.  He played many different roles from The Crimson Pirate (1952) to From Here to Eternity (1953) to Elmer Gantry (1960) to Atlantic City (1980).

It will be the sound of his voice, the way that he laughed, and the larger than life characters that he played which he will always be remembered.

He died 20th October, 1994 of a heart attack.
