Spoon Synopsis


SPOON is a thriller with supernatural overtones and tracks the life of a man with an unusual medical condition that causes him to blackout during moments of extreme stress and this condition leads him to make a remarkable discovery about himself.

Simon Hansen and Sharlto Copley are co-directors of the two most popular South African short films of all time - their first short featured the Space Shuttle crash landing in downtown Cape Town. Their second, Hellweek, www.atomic-vfx.com/hellweek featured a military style training camp for digital artists in Africa. Both films were accepted and screened this year in the Cinema Du Monde section of the Cannes film festival. With a background in commercials, music videos and high end visual effects production, the duo have finally made their much anticipated move to feature film production. Anant Singh is South Africa's pre-eminent film producer, having produced fifty-eight films since 1984. This year he received an Oscar nomination for Yesterday, in the category of best foreign language film. He is responsible for many of the greatest anti-apartheid films ever made in South Africa, including "Place Of Weeping," "Sarafina!" and "Cry, the Beloved Country."
